Rural Development

Ramkrishna Ashram Janakalyan Kendra (the Rural Development Wing of the Ashram) began its work through preparation and implementation of Integrated Rural Development Programmes and Schemes involving specific village-oriented services through active participation by the village youths and the beneficiaries in far-flung villages.

Health Care Services

Medical facilities are still a dream in remote island of Sundarbans. Ashram tries to provide services through Mobile Medical Launch equipped with the facilities of X-Ray with Dark-Room, Pathological Testing and Minor Operation Theatre. It has initiated more than 75 health clinics in remotest part of Sundarban.

Sustainable Agriculture

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, supported by ICAR and run by SRAN began its service to the farming communities of South 24 Parganas  about 3 decades ago through trainings, demonstrations, trials and testings, field days, clinic centres, agricultural exhibitions, advisory services, etc. Area specific modification, refinement and dissemination of existing agro technologies and innovation of need based low cost technologies suitable to the agro climatic conditions and their percolation right at the doorstep of the poor farmers is a priority of the RAKVK. It also brings out farm publications on different agro technologies in local language for the benefit of the farmers. Farmers’ Field School (FFS) on field crops is also organized to give the farmers a first hand knowledge of the complex interaction existing in the ecosystem and a sustainable approach approach to control the natural field problems without harming the nature. ...more
